Psychiatry's Latest Manual Goes Too Far

Allen Francis was chairman of the task force that created the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV), which came out in 1994. Although this essay does not talk about the disease mongering of the pharmaceutical companies as a factor in the expansion of psychiatric diagnoses to "encompass every eccentricity," it does discuss the absurdity of some of the newly proposed diagnoses.
